Looking for new releases? I got you. I've found some of the hottest and most anticipated books of August, and I'm sure many of these will go on your TBR after looking through this list. :)

Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar

This is arguably the most anticipated release of August, and why wouldn't it be? It's a blend of Hindu mythology and Neil Gaiman's Stardust. The main character is the daughter of a human and a star, and it features celestial courts and competition! I, for one, cannot wait to read this.

Set Fire to the Gods by Sara Raasch and Kristen Simmons

This is already on my TBR. I mean, look at that gorgeous cover! I'll buy it just for that. (But don't judge a book by it's cover, folks.) This book revolves around a conflict between gods that can only be settled by deadly gladiator games, which sounds very exciting. But be warned, there's a dark secret that threatens to unravel this entire world hiding in its pages.

The Faithless Hawk by Margaret Owen

If you were a fan of The Merciful Crow, one of the bestselling releases of 2019, then have I got news for you! The Faithless Hawk, the sequel, is releasing next month! Get ready for another awesome adventure with your favorite characters, Fie and Prince Jasimir.

Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles

Where Dreams Descend is a startling romance, and the first book in the Kingdom of Cards fantasy duology. It centers around a group of magicians facing off in a risky game to win a headline. More and more of the magicians go missing due to an unseen danger, and mystery awaits.

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

Twilight fans, get ready for this one! Midnight Sun is Twilight through Edward's eyes. Though, not exactly. This book explores Edward's past and inner thoughts while he struggles with his attraction to Bella, knowing that he wants to be with her but is endangering her life by doing so.

Court of Lions by Somaiya Daud

Once again, I'm inclined to buy this book solely because of its beautiful cover. This is the sequel to Mirage, which was released in 2018. Amani wanted adventure, and she found it in the first book, but now, she's in isolation. She desperately wants to help the rebellion, but will she be able to?

The Dark Tide by Alicia Jasinska

This new book is marketed as The Wicked Deep meets A Curse So Dark and Lonely, and if you know about any of these, you'd know that they're both highly popular. This one, however, isn't a retelling like the other two are, but rather a fantasy with fairy-tale elements in it. Regardless, I'm excited for it!

Dating Makes Perfect by Pintip Dunn

In this all-new romance starring two Asian-American sisters, the Tech sisters aren't allowed to date. Until their new move. The youngest daughter must now practice "fake-dating" in high school at the request of her parents. I think you can imagine how fun this book is about to be.

Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho

Wicked Fox now has a companion novel! In Vicious Spirits, Miyoung and Jihoon are trying to patch up their broken lives after the death of their loved ones. Miyoung keeps getting sicker, and the only way to save her is to perform the ultimate sacrifice. Simultaneously, the events that the end of Wicked Fox put in play are taking place.

More Than Just a Pretty Face by Syed M. Masood

This sweet rom-com is perfect for fans of Jenny Han or Becky Albertalli. It focuses on falling in love and familial expectations. While trying to gain the affection of Kaval and her family, Danyal recruits Bisma to help him win the Renaissance Man competition, a competition to prove his intelligence. But he soon realizes than maybe Kaval isn't who he wants.
