Ok, so firstly, yes I do realize it is already April, but as usual, I'm late with my new release posts. This year, April has some of the best books of the year (to me at least). I'm super excited about all of these. Just a quick warning, there are a couple of NA books here, since I've been reading a lot of NA recently. I'll mention which ones are YA and NA, though.
Mina and the Undead- Amy McCaw (YA)
House of Hollow- Krystal Sutherland (YA)
The Infinity Courts- Akemi Dawn Bowman (YA)
To Love and to Loathe- Martha Waters (NA)
The Crown of Gilded Bones- Jennifer L. Armentrout (NA)

Mina and the Undead by Amy McCaw
April 1, 2021
I read the description of this book, and I was immediately interested. This is a murder mystery, but I would expect something slightly different because of the title and because it's set in 1995, which should make for an interesting ambiance. This book is about Mina, a 17-year-old girl from England, who loves horror and everything scary. She visits New Orleans to see her sister, and here she witnesses a brutal murder replicating a past supernatural New Orleans killing. Her sister is the prime suspect, and Mina has to clear her name. Murder mysteries can either be really good or really bad, and I'm hoping this one will be the latter.

If you remember, I actually mentioned this book in one of my previous posts; it was a cover reveal. This book has been majorly hyped, and it's finally out. I hope it lives up to its reputation. This book reminds me of Wilder Girls in the way that it includes paranormal elements, a main mystery, and it gets dark. I did enjoy Wilder Girls, so I definitely want to read this one to see if there are any similarities. The main characters of this book are Iris Hollow and her two sisters, who know that they're different because of something strange that happened in their childhood. They can't remember this childhood event though, and the main mystery of the book is finding out what it is.

The Infinity Courts by Akemi Dawn Bowman

Ok, first of all, THIS COVER! It's so pretty I'll read it just for that. Also, the premise for this sounds very interesting and new. Our MC, Nami, is murdered at 18 years old, and she ends up in a place called Infinity. There, a queen named Ophelia rules, and she is getting closer to eradicating human existence. Nami works with a group of rebels to take down Ophelia, and through this, she learns about humanity, grief, and more. It's the afterlife and technology, which should be a very interesting combination. I feel like this is going to be a huge hit, and I'm so excited to read it. I love sci-fi and fantasy books.

To Love and To Loathe by Martha Waters

I am SO excited for this one. I've been meaning to pick up a period piece book for a while now. It's also supposed to be a comedy, which is even better. In this book, the Lady Templeton and the Marquess of Willingham make a wager where they have a brief affair to the benefit of both parties. Of course, however, they end up falling in love. If you've read Julia Quinn's The Duke and I or watched the show Bridgerton on Netflix, the plot of this book is quite similar to that. I'm definitely reading this one.

The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is the one I'm the most excited about. The Blood and Ash series is my all-time favorite, and I'm so ready for this third installment. After the ending of A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, I need to read this as soon as possible. An explanation is long overdue. JLA recently announced that this series will actually be extended to 6 books, so we get 3 more after this! I hope the quality doesn't decrease because of this, though. Hawke is literally my favorite character of all time, and I hope it stays like that. I'm so insanely excited to read this, but I won't mention anything else, so as to not spoil the first two. I hope you guys pick up this series, though! It is NA and can be explicit at times, however, so make sure you know what you're getting into.
That's all I have for you guys today! As always, I hope you found something to look forward to reading this month! I know I have. :)
All love,
Alekhya <3
