First of all, let me just apologize for how late this post is. Normally, I try to do monthly new release posts anywhere from the 10th-15th of each month, but I've been super busy lately, and could only manage to get this in now. Even more, I had to shorten it from the usual 10 books to 5 books. :(( I apologize for that, but hopefully, this will still be of some use to you guys! October isn't as great of a month for books as previous months this year, but there's still some that sound very promising!

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco
Kingdom of the Wicked is probably the single most anticipated release for October, and I'm definitely excited about it! If you've read Maniscalco's Stalking Jack the Ripper series, then you know how good her writing is. I've read the first two books in that series, and I really liked them! This book is all about murder, magic, and evil princes in Sicily, perfect for Halloween! It's also enemies to lovers, which I (and a lot of other people) are fans of!

Broken Wish by Julie C. Dao
Broken Wish is set in Germany, 1865. If that setting doesn't already interest you, there's more! Our main character, Elva, suffers from visions and has strange powers, and is being hunted because of it. Elva accidentally sees a terrible vision of the future and decides she needs to do everything she can to prevent it. As the story goes on, the lines between villain and hero start to blur, and Elva does all she can to right her past wrongs.

Beyond the Ruby Veil by Mara Fitzgerald
Beyond the Ruby Veil is marketed as a book that is perfect for fans of Wicked Saints and Three Dark Crowns. I, personally love Wicked Saints and it is definitely in my Top 5. Three Dark Crowns wasn't a great read for me, but for those of you who liked either or both, get ready for this one! It's a dark and queer YA fantasy centered around a girl who kills the only person who can create water, and now has to stop her city from dying of thirst. I think that's a really interesting and unique concept and I'm excited to read this!

Among the Beasts and Briars by Ashley Poston
Among the Beasts and Briars is a story about a cursed wood, and a girl names Cerys. Cerys lost everything when she went into the woods as a young child, and now she carries a bit of the curse of the woods in her. Despite this, everything is perfect in her land and she doesn't face any danger. But that's about to change. Cerys is forced on the run and it's up to her to save her home. But that road is far more dark and dangerous than she knows.

Daughters of Jubilation by Kara Lee Corthron
Daughters of Jubilation is a fantasy that is set in the Jim Crow South. It centers on a black teen who tries to find her place among a family of women with magical abilities. Evvie has many things to worry about, but when her powers start to make an appearance, she has to stand up and embrace her magical lineage to fight the dark demons that have surfaced. It's dark, grounded, and surreal, and brings up issues of white supremacy and the terrible treatment of African Americans that was prevalent in the South at that time.
So, that is all for this post, and I hope you found something you're interested to read! Again, I'm sorry for how short this post is, but I covered all of what I believe are the most anticipated and important reads of October. I am still very busy and probably won't be as up to date and active on news in the YA world as of now, but I'll try to post everything that I can!
